Raymond Garner, AP, Dipl.C.H., Dipl.Ac., RRT - Acupuncture Physician and Herbalist

Raymond Garner is a Florida state licensed and nationally certified Acupuncture Physician and Herbalist.  He is also a state licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist.  Raymond has been in the medical field for over 11 years and practiced as Acupuncturist for over 5 years. Currently, he also works as a Respiratory Therapist at Boca Raton Community Hospital.  Raymond understands that there are many ways to find your Balance in life- some use Western medicine, some use Chinese medicine, some use Qi-gong, etc.  When applied correctly to the right cases, the combination of more than one of these methods can produce better results than using only one. The proper Balance in every situation produces the best outcome! Raymond has been working with the White Crane Healing Arts Center for over 4 years now.

As it turned out, California had a different plan for me. There, I was introduced to the concept of "Qi" and was so amazed by what I learned that I knew I had to research it further. I read and spoke with as many sources as possible. "Was this stuff real," I wondered? As it turns out, it's absolutely real, and I found at the core an organized, incredibly detailed science to Qi and traditional Chinese medicine. It began to seem like an excellent way to take care of the body, though its theories were totally novel to me - balancing the energy in the body to heal the whole body, not just poisoning the patient to kill his illness and hoping not to take the rest of his body with it.

The more I learned, the more I wanted to learn, so my next step was simple: I enrolled in the best TCM school in the US - ACTCM in San Francisco. There, I completed an extensive four-year Masters degree program. Since my mind was already trained to think in terms of the hard science of western medicine, the more esoteric tenets of TCM - which speak of things not readily seen or touched - were difficult concepts for me to grasp at first. However, the proof lay in the results. As my patients' conditions improved and I chased away my own illnesses (colds and skin troubles) using TCM remedies, my faith solidified. I also came to realize that, although it was different, my western medicine schooling was not a hindrance but a massive benefit. Western medicine allows me to understand and discuss the structure and function of the body the way our society sees it. I understand the terminology of disease as it is diagnosed by western medicine, which allows me understand my patients and be able to "translate" what they tell me into TCM and vice versa.

Throughout my schooling and through the present, I continue to work as an RT because I find great benefit in the union of TCM and Western (allopathic) medicine. This was proven to me when I studied abroad at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, where I saw firsthand how an integrated, complementary system of the two medicines can function together. As I see it now, each has its place in treatment of disease and injury, but they function best when properly applied together. For example, the side effects of modern anti-cancer treatments (chemotherapy, radiation, etc) can be devastating to a person's health, but when applied in conjunction with TCM treatment modalities, a patient's energy and digestion can be maintained and even improved. This concept is still resisted by some Western physicians, but nevertheless, the results are undeniable.

The Wellness Clinic

The clinic has 4 treatment rooms. All of the areas of the clinic have speakers which play music geared towards relaxation. The rooms also have dimmer lights and massage tables. All of this is to create a relaxed and comfortable environment where the treatments are administered. The walls are decorated with Acupuncture and Asian artistry. There is an open area that is used for Yoga, Tai Chi, Food Nutrition classes and more. The Wellness Clinic is a place where Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, and Nutrition Counselors bring their patients for healing, balancing, and education.
